Netanyahu Invites, Khans Declines - The Bollywood Hypocrisy

Bollywood Hypocrisy

THE PRIME MINISTER OF ISRAEL, Benjamin Netanyahu invited the entire Hindi film fraternity for an event called “Shalom Bollywood”. Some attended while a few didn’t. But, if you think it's as simple as that, like "it should be up to the priority of the invitee and those having a busy schedule may skip the event", you might be wrong. Politics is the case:
The interesting part is that the people who didn't show up in the event are the same ones who were keen for lifting the ban on Pakistani artists who were banned to work in India on the wake of fidayeen attack on Indian army in Uri, carried out by the guerrilla army of Pakistan.

According to their logic, for the sake of arts, we should allow people from a "terrorist state" to come, make name, fame, money and return back to the safe haven of terrorists. While for the sake of not hurting the feeling of Muslim nations, these people decided to remain absent from the event when a foreign dignitary of the stature of Mr Netanyahu, on his visit to the country, wished to meet them.

I do not disagree with the argument that Art is boundless and artists know no boundaries”, I do not even take offence with the Pakistani artists working in Bollywood. But the occasion and context in which the argument was applied, I do have a problem with Bollywood hypocrisy. Indeed, art is boundless, that’s why Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: The world loves Bollywood, Israel loves Bollywood, I love Bollywood. The love for Bollywood in places like Israel is quite surprising. The reach of Bollywood films to places other than the Indian subcontinent reinforces the gravity of the statement of art being free from political boundaries.

Aamir Khan claims to be patriotic. But he, at several times, proved that his love for his religion overcome his ‘alleged’ love for India. He is the one who was enrolled in "atithi devo bhava" (guests are gods) Ad preaching the populace to show hospitality in receiving guests (tourists). It seems that Netanyahu was not an "atithi" to Aamir. He might be an excellent actor, but he is equally hypocrite. Salman Khan enjoys a massive fan base. He doesn't claim to be patriotic like Aamir but he goes around every Bollywood function to perform his weird dance moves — that youth of "this country" make a trend. Shah Rukh Khan, too, never tried to show an overwhelming feeling of patriotism like Aamir in 'real' life. Neither does he carry hardcore followers as Salman. So, there was nothing surprising from his side. But, as a popular Indian actor, he could've attended the event.

Bravo Imtiaz Ali was the only established Muslim artist who was present at the event without caring about fatwa or the boycotting of his films in the Islamic states (ISIS excluded). Yet, the question is, can his presence cover the absence of all other Muslims stars of Bollywood?

Now, don't expect me to talk about every single of them. The three Khans along with the other Muslim artists have ruled the Hindi film industry because of the love and admiration of their fellow countrymen. They should've considered this fact. Basically, what our "filmstars" did is — they displayed solidarity with the religious propaganda of the Muslim world. But, while doing that they've shown that they're a Muslim first before an Indian.

India doesn’t want to give a religious angle to such things despite the fact that it is only the members of a particular religion involved in a lobby — of organizing a silent protest against the coming of Israeli PM on the Indian soil. The group that preaches tolerance have no tolerance themselves. Their attitude shows that they are the ones who need to learn the principles of tolerance first.

It is not like India doesn't have a sympathy for Palestine cause. India has repeatedly taken risk of supporting Palestine when almost everyone outside of the Muslim world chose to abandon them. Recently, India voted in favour of a UN General Assembly resolution rejecting U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. It was New Delhi's principled stand against the United States at a time when liberal ideology has weakened. And by the way, the sympathy of the Muslim world to Palestine is so effective that they have ended up creating Hamas, a terrorist organisation, and call it a People's Struggle against Occupants.

To wrap up, I'd just like to say that whether the arrogant Muslim Bollywood stars attend an event of national importance or not, it doesn't really matter. The intention here is only to highlight the double standard of Bollywood which needs to be exposed, especially to those who blindly follow and worship them.

Anyways, the Shalom Bollywood event has been successfully commenced with this:

A Glimpse Into The Life Of India's Most Trusted Batsman - Rahul Dravid and The World Cup

image credits-  Chubby Chandru THE LEGENDARY CRICKETER, Rahul Dravid has finally quenched his desire of lifting a Cricket World Cup, though not as a skipper, not even as a player — but as a coach. Undoubtedly, it is the hard work of the boys involved in the game, who give their output on the ground and are directly responsible for the results. However, the hard work needs to be in the right direction and like any other sport, in cricket too, the team needs a right strategy to win the game. That's when the role of experience comes in, and who is better experienced than “the wall” himself. At his time, he was the most-trusted batsman of the Indian team. He performed when everyone else in the team surrender. He is the one who absorbed the deadly bowling attacks with remarkable ease. He is the one who rescued the team from the jaws of a humiliating defeat. He is the one who set up a massive target for the opponents and by the mere presence of the wall shatters their hopes. ...

Dear Sparrows Where Have You Gone

Little birds, my source of joyousness, I know you since the finest moment of my childhood curiousness. Your sweet chirp was my alarm tone, Redundant was the alarm clock or the app on my phone. Come and wake me up, dear sparrows. Every day from our balconies, some of us watch you with utmost fascination; Some selflessly feed you with great affection. While some, maybe most, do not pay heed, Towards your stubby trunk, short tail, and the cute beak Through which you pour the entrancing melody. Friendly sparrows, don’t deprive us of your song. Why are you abandoning us? Think about those among us, Whose day begins with your sweet chirps. You've lived with us for ages, Became our house member, of sorts. Don't leave your home, little sparrows. Your disappearance is troubling, You aren't just another bird to boost Earth’s biodiversity, You are an indicator of a civilization prosperity. I think AR Rahman has dedicated a s...

A Reality Check of Bihar on Bihar Diwas

It's 22 March Today. It's Bihar Diwas (Bihar Day), a very special day for Bihar and Biharis. It is a day of political and cultural awakening among Biharis. However, instead of just pushing jingoism, let's do a reality check on the present state of Bihar.  Bihar, historically a cradle of civilization with intellectual hubs like Nalanda and Vikramshila, faced economic decline over centuries due to colonial exploitation, natural disasters, and post-independence neglect. By the mid-20th century, the state struggled with poverty, unemployment, and underdevelopment, lagging behind India’s more industrialized or urbanized regions. This economic hardship pushed waves of Bihari laborers to migrate to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, etc. in search of work, often taking up low-paying manual jobs—rickshaw pullers, construction workers, or street vendors. In these urban centers, they became visible symbols of rural poverty, and their sheer numbers made them an easy targe...

Accidental Prime Minister Compels India To Talk Manmohan Singh And Corruption Before Election, A Review

The media advisor to former prime minister Manmohan Singh, with his boring job, has been able to commercialize a story of his boss right to the screen. No one would have imagined this possibility when the book was launched in the midst of the 2014 election; when it also made a buzz with the allegations giving birth to controversies. But with the change of government after the election, things cooled down and people forgot their highly qualified yet good-for-nothing economist PM. Don't Just Set Fitness Goals, Achieve It With Smartness

The dream to be fit and have in possession of tip-top body shape is a dream of people across the globe. Some people will admit it, some won’t. Sometimes, to make this dream come true, we take action (as a reaction of some subversive motivational videos or text) and get ourselves enrolled in a gym or yoga class, eat healthy (and tasteless) food, forcefully digest bitter juice of bitter gourd, and whatnot. But it barely lasts for long-term. Within months, we tend to drop out. The “we” here is most of you and me. So, why does this happen to most people? Why do we fail to achieve our grand fitness dream? At the end of the day, even after a high dose of motivation, why do we choose to ignore the fitness goal we set in just some days ago? Probably because of the urge for laziness or the cravings for fatty and sugary food items. Or, because it is boring and feels like pain with no gain. But the fitness dream ain't big, rather it is just the default mode we are supposed to be in. What...

The Triple Talaq Argument: Fundamental Rights And Religious Obligations

The religious orthodoxy versus gender justice debate is not new. The debate has been ignited in the past from time to time challenging the sanctity of personal laws. The Muslim Personal Law Application Act, 1937, allows Indian Muslims to be governed by the  Shariat  (Islamic laws) based on Quran and  Hadith  (utterances of the Prophet) in matters of personal law. It is the Shayara Bano case that once again has ignited the debate. Shayara is a resident of Kashipur in Uttarakhand who was given an instantaneous triple talaq by her husband. She then approached the Supreme Court and filed a petition against practices of talaq-e-bidat (instantaneous triple talaq), nikah halala and polygamy. There are many progressive Muslim groups along with some secular bodies which demand to reform the unjust personal laws of the Muslim community. However, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) opposes any interference by the Supreme Court in matters of religious an...

Modigate And The Modi Brand — How One Affects The Other

With few Modis coming out as corrupt doesn't imply that all people with Modi surname are corrupt. But, it certainly hurt the humble chaiwala PM MODI brand image in public. PM MODI DURING HIS 2014 ELECTION CAMPAIGN, in a public rally, asserted that he will serve as a chowkidar (watchman) of India and will stop the ongoing loot. The rhetoric was so powerful that even corruption crusaders like Anna Hazare fall for it and almost came out openly in support of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. But, he appears to have failed in his role as a chowkidar . With the fall of Nirav Modi brand after Modigate, the question is, is it going to affect the political ‘Modi’ brand? If yes, how? Nirav Modi’s association with PM Modi is not very clear. But the owner of Gitanjali gems and Nirav Modi's maternal uncle, Mehul Chinubhai Choksi has also been named in the PNB fraud . In a public speech, the way PM Narendra Modi mentioned his name indicates how well he know...
