Netanyahu Invites, Khans Declines - The Bollywood Hypocrisy

Bollywood Hypocrisy

THE PRIME MINISTER OF ISRAEL, Benjamin Netanyahu invited the entire Hindi film fraternity for an event called “Shalom Bollywood”. Some attended while a few didn’t. But, if you think it's as simple as that, like "it should be up to the priority of the invitee and those having a busy schedule may skip the event", you might be wrong. Politics is the case:
The interesting part is that the people who didn't show up in the event are the same ones who were keen for lifting the ban on Pakistani artists who were banned to work in India on the wake of fidayeen attack on Indian army in Uri, carried out by the guerrilla army of Pakistan.

According to their logic, for the sake of arts, we should allow people from a "terrorist state" to come, make name, fame, money and return back to the safe haven of terrorists. While for the sake of not hurting the feeling of Muslim nations, these people decided to remain absent from the event when a foreign dignitary of the stature of Mr Netanyahu, on his visit to the country, wished to meet them.

I do not disagree with the argument that Art is boundless and artists know no boundaries”, I do not even take offence with the Pakistani artists working in Bollywood. But the occasion and context in which the argument was applied, I do have a problem with Bollywood hypocrisy. Indeed, art is boundless, that’s why Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: The world loves Bollywood, Israel loves Bollywood, I love Bollywood. The love for Bollywood in places like Israel is quite surprising. The reach of Bollywood films to places other than the Indian subcontinent reinforces the gravity of the statement of art being free from political boundaries.

Aamir Khan claims to be patriotic. But he, at several times, proved that his love for his religion overcome his ‘alleged’ love for India. He is the one who was enrolled in "atithi devo bhava" (guests are gods) Ad preaching the populace to show hospitality in receiving guests (tourists). It seems that Netanyahu was not an "atithi" to Aamir. He might be an excellent actor, but he is equally hypocrite. Salman Khan enjoys a massive fan base. He doesn't claim to be patriotic like Aamir but he goes around every Bollywood function to perform his weird dance moves — that youth of "this country" make a trend. Shah Rukh Khan, too, never tried to show an overwhelming feeling of patriotism like Aamir in 'real' life. Neither does he carry hardcore followers as Salman. So, there was nothing surprising from his side. But, as a popular Indian actor, he could've attended the event.

Bravo Imtiaz Ali was the only established Muslim artist who was present at the event without caring about fatwa or the boycotting of his films in the Islamic states (ISIS excluded). Yet, the question is, can his presence cover the absence of all other Muslims stars of Bollywood?

Now, don't expect me to talk about every single of them. The three Khans along with the other Muslim artists have ruled the Hindi film industry because of the love and admiration of their fellow countrymen. They should've considered this fact. Basically, what our "filmstars" did is — they displayed solidarity with the religious propaganda of the Muslim world. But, while doing that they've shown that they're a Muslim first before an Indian.

India doesn’t want to give a religious angle to such things despite the fact that it is only the members of a particular religion involved in a lobby — of organizing a silent protest against the coming of Israeli PM on the Indian soil. The group that preaches tolerance have no tolerance themselves. Their attitude shows that they are the ones who need to learn the principles of tolerance first.

It is not like India doesn't have a sympathy for Palestine cause. India has repeatedly taken risk of supporting Palestine when almost everyone outside of the Muslim world chose to abandon them. Recently, India voted in favour of a UN General Assembly resolution rejecting U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. It was New Delhi's principled stand against the United States at a time when liberal ideology has weakened. And by the way, the sympathy of the Muslim world to Palestine is so effective that they have ended up creating Hamas, a terrorist organisation, and call it a People's Struggle against Occupants.

To wrap up, I'd just like to say that whether the arrogant Muslim Bollywood stars attend an event of national importance or not, it doesn't really matter. The intention here is only to highlight the double standard of Bollywood which needs to be exposed, especially to those who blindly follow and worship them.

Anyways, the Shalom Bollywood event has been successfully commenced with this:

Does India As A State Obliged Towards Her Citizens For Providing Them Employment?

As the Modi-led BJP government has failed to rescue India from Job crisis in its five-year term, the question is whether the government has done enough to maintain the equilibrium in the job market of the country? And whether or not the government should be held liable for creating this crisis in the first place? Screenshot from movie 3 idiots Article 41 {Right to work, to education and to public assistance in certain cases} under DPSP says: “The State shall, within the limits of its economic capacity and development, make effective provision for securing the right to work, to education and to public assistance in cases of unemployment, old age, sickness and disablement, and in other cases of undeserved want.” The DPSP cannot be enforced by any court, but the principles laid down in this part are nevertheless fundamental in the governance of the country, and it should be the duty of the State to apply these principles in making laws. We also need to look back to Mo...

Bhabhiji Ghar Par, Jijaji Chhat Par— A Review Of India's Comedy Serials

Indian television has been doing great with serials like Bhabhiji ghar par hai (Sister-In-Law Is At Home), May I come in Madam, and the latest in the fray, Jijaji chhat par hai (Brother-In-Law Is At The Terrace). However gross these may sound, but it seems to be the reality of Indian television.  But, why are such indecent and depraved shows on the rise? Is it really the people interested? There must be a significant number of people watching such shows to make it viable  as it is not easy to sustain a failed show , especially on TV, where. I won't comment whether these kinds of serials should air on TV or not. It’d be intruding to an artist's freedom of expression, his right to express an idea, be it in form of non-fiction speech, or with some fictional characters telling a story. These shows are just harmless entertainment meant for making you laugh, right? However, if you ask me, my opinion would be that, in the name of comedy, the makers of such sitcoms are either fo...
